You can text or tweet or insta during the flight, to post photos of your adventure in real time.  Tag us! @ClassicHeli or use the hashtag #seattlehelitours.

Weights, Weather and Wee Ones

It looks windy/rainy/snowy/lightning/stormy.  Is it safe to fly?

Our pilots regularly check a variety of aviation weather resources, including the airport weather report, before every flight.  If you have not already been notified that the weather is too poor to fly, it is still safe to fly.  However, we understand if the rain or wind makes you nervous, as weather can make for a more turbulent flight.  We will always honor a change in reservation for weather, and we hope you'll fly with us on a calmer day.

Can kids fly?

Children under 2 years of age may be held on the lap of a parent, but are not recommended to fly.  Kids between 2 and 7 who ride in a car seat should bring their seat, to make sure they can fit comfortably in the aircraft and see out the window. The safety of our passengers is of the utmost importance to us, and we want to be sure that everyone flies comfortably and securely during their time with us.

Our aircraft are not sound proof, and damage to hearing is a concern for young ears.  Noise levels can approach the decibel level of the stadium during a Seahawk's playoff game, and that’s pretty loud!  Please call our office at (206) 767-0515 to speak with a pilot about the risks for children under 2.  The sound canceling headsets in our aircraft are sized for adults, so for children over 2, please bring child ear protection.

Are there any weight limits for passengers?

Some weight limits do apply.  Individual seats may not exceed 300 pounds in an R44 & R66, and 240 pounds in an R22.  Due to the small size of our aircraft, there are competing forces that restrict the maximum weight of each passenger, such as pilot weight and fuel.  Please obtain the weight of each passenger in your group prior to making your reservation.  Scales are available at our offices to check your weight.  A pilot may need to be consulted to ensure a safe and level flight.

Deposit and Payment Questions

Do I have to pay for my flight upfront?

We do not require full payment before your flight, but we do require a $75 deposit toward the final price of your flight.

Why do I have to pay a deposit?

This is a reservation fee to hold your booking, and to ensure we can pay our pilot in the event of a missed tour.  The deposit must be received to confirm your flight, and continue to hold your reservation on our schedule.

How can I pay my deposit?

To pay your $75 deposit toward the final price of your flight call our office between 9 am and 5 pm daily.  Our number is (206) 767-0515.

Can my deposit be refunded?

If YOU cancel the flight, under no circumstances will a refund be issued within 24 hours or your reservation time. More than 24 hours from your reservation, refunds will be subject to a 20% cancelation fee to compensate for credit card processing fees and revenue tax.

In the event WEATHER forces us to cancel the flight, we are happy to reschedule your flight without collecting an additional deposit. If you would like a refund instead, we are happy to issue a partial refund minus the 20% cancelation fee used to compensate for credit card fees and taxes.

If we are forced to cancel your flight for a reason not weather related, you will receive a full refund of your deposit.

Do I have to make a deposit for each passenger?

You only need to make one deposit for your reservation.  This deposit will be deducted from the final cost of your flight.  You'll be notified of the remaining cost of the flight when you check in at our front desk.

What happens if I miss my flight?

We're sorry that you missed your flight.  Unfortunately, we have to pay the pilot who was on standby for your reservation, so your deposit can not be refunded.  If you would like to make a new reservation, we would be happy to reschedule, however we will take another deposit toward the new flight.

About Our Aircraft

What kind of aircraft do you fly?

We fly Robinson R22s, R44s, and R66s, the mostly widely flown helicopters in the world.

How many passengers can your aircraft hold?

An R22 seats one passenger plus a pilot, an R44 seats three passengers plus a pilot, and an R66 seats four passengers plus a pilot.  For larger parties, we can schedule your group in multiple aircraft.

How is the flight time recorded?  How long was my flight?

Your flight is recorded by a meter in the cockpit called the Hobbs meter.  It's like a mileage speedometer in a car, but it tracks flight in units of minutes not miles.  From the time we start the engine until we turn it off again constitutes your total flight time.

Other Policies

I just got a call that my flight had to be rescheduled.  Why?

Flights can sometimes be rescheduled by SeattleHeliTours due to an unforeseen schedule conflict, aircraft maintenance, or weather.  We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we hope you understand.  If you would like to reschedule your flight, use the email field below to email us or call our office at (206) 767-0515 between 9 am and 5 pm Pacific time daily.  We look forward to flying with you at a later date.

Can I fly with the doors off?

Unless you are on a designated commercial photo flight or Instagram flight, we will fly with the doors on.  There are risks of things falling out of the aircraft and causing damage.  It’s also very windy!

What is your company’s policy on drugs and alcohol?

Classic Helicopter and SeattleHeliTours are regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  FAA Part 91 General Operating and Flight Rules maintains a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol or narcotics use by our pilots, and does not permit our aircraft to carry intoxicated individuals under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Further, our pilots are not permitted to fly an aircraft with the knowledge that narcotic drugs, depressants or stimulant drugs or substances are in the aircraft.

We understand that both alcohol and marijuana are legal in the state of Washington.  However, we will not carry intoxicated persons in our aircraft, and we ask that passengers leave all paraphernalia at home or in the car when you fly with us.  Our pilots reserve the right to refuse service to any passenger.
